Please read this before you book

Screening is for people without symptoms. No scan or blood test can rule cancer in or out on its own — a normal result is reassuring, not a guarantee, and some findings need further tests. Our clinicians always explain what your results mean and what to do next.

If you have a symptom that worries you, don't wait for screening — contact your GP or call NHS 111. Our private screening complements, and does not replace, the NHS national screening programmes (bowel, breast and cervical).

Why Consider Screening?

Proactive checks, on your terms

Spot changes early

Combining advanced imaging with targeted laboratory testing can help identify many significant health conditions at an earlier stage, when treatment options are often more effective.

Consultant-led throughout

From your initial consultation to your personalised results review, experienced clinicians guide you at every step and explain what your results mean and what to do next.

Alongside the NHS

Our private screening works alongside the national NHS programmes. Please keep attending your invited NHS bowel, breast and cervical screenings.

Who Can Benefit?

Screening can make sense if…

  • You want to take a proactive approach to your health.
  • You have a family history of cancer and want a thorough check.
  • You are in an age group where the risk of certain cancers rises.
  • Lifestyle factors — such as a smoking history — mean you want reassurance.

If you already have symptoms, screening is not the right route — please see your GP or call NHS 111 first.

Important information & limitations

What cancer screening can — and can't — do

This package combines advanced imaging and blood tests to provide a comprehensive health assessment; however, it is not a substitute for nationally recommended cancer screening programmes or investigations recommended by your healthcare professional. A normal screening result does not exclude the presence or future development of cancer. Likewise, abnormal findings do not necessarily indicate cancer and may require further assessment.

This screening has important limitations:

  • It does not replace established national screening programmes, including bowel cancer screening (FIT and/or colonoscopy), breast cancer screening (mammography), cervical screening (smear tests), prostate cancer assessment where clinically indicated, or lung cancer screening for eligible high-risk individuals.
  • MRI has limited sensitivity for detecting early bowel cancers, small polyps and precancerous lesions. Colonoscopy remains the gold standard for assessment of the colon and rectum.
  • MRI has limited sensitivity for detecting small lung nodules and early lung cancers. Low-dose CT remains the preferred imaging modality for lung cancer screening in eligible individuals.
  • Blood tumour markers are not diagnostic and should not be used alone to screen for cancer. They may be normal in patients with cancer or elevated in individuals without cancer.
  • Some cancers, particularly very small, early-stage or slow-growing tumours, may not be visible on imaging or detectable with blood tests at the time of screening.

Results should always be interpreted alongside your medical history, symptoms and clinical assessment. If you have persistent or concerning symptoms, seek medical advice regardless of your screening results.

Common questions

Questions about screening

What's the difference between the men's and women's packages?

Both programmes are identical in structure and price. They differ only in the sex-specific elements: the men's pelvis MRI focuses on the prostate and adds a testicular ultrasound and a PSA blood marker, while the women's pelvis MRI focuses on the gynaecological organs and adds a transvaginal ultrasound and a CA-125 blood marker.

Does a scan or blood test detect cancer?

No single test can detect or rule out all types of cancer. Screening is designed to identify potential early signs or abnormalities that may warrant further investigation. A normal result is reassuring but does not guarantee the absence of disease, and abnormal findings do not necessarily indicate cancer.

Are blood 'tumour markers' a cancer test?

Tests such as PSA or CA-125 are not standalone cancer diagnostics. Levels can be raised for non-cancerous reasons and can be normal even when cancer is present. Their significance is determined by a clinician alongside your history, examination and imaging.

Is this the same as NHS screening?

Our private screening is supplementary to the NHS national programmes for bowel, breast and cervical cancer. We encourage you to continue attending any screening appointments offered by the NHS.

I have a symptom that worries me — should I book screening?

No. Health screening is intended for people without symptoms. If you have a worrying sign such as a new lump, unexplained bleeding or a persistent change in your health, please contact your GP or call NHS 111.

Do I need a GP referral?

No. You can book directly. Your programme begins with a pre-test GP consultation to make sure the checks are appropriate for your individual health profile.
