MRI Brain Scan
An MRI of the brain produces highly detailed images of the brain tissue, blood vessels, ventricles, nerves, and skull base structures. It’s an essential scan for diagnosing causes of headaches, seizures, dizziness, visual changes, memory loss, or other neurological symptoms.
What is an MRI brain scan?
MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) uses powerful magnets and radiofrequency waves — with no radiation — to create high-resolution images of the brain.
A brain MRI allows your radiologist and neurologist to examine:
- Brain structure and white/grey matter
- Blood supply and vascular anomalies
- Ventricular system and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) flow
- Cranial nerves and sinuses
- Brainstem and cerebellum
It is widely used in neurology for both diagnosis and follow-up.
Why consider a private MRI scan for the brain?
When experiencing neurological symptoms or when prior scans are inconclusive, an MRI offers unmatched clarity and accuracy.
Private scan benefits include:
- Fast access — no delays or NHS waiting lists
- Consultant radiologist report in 3 working days
- Superior to CT for soft tissue and early disease detection
- Crucial for early diagnosis of serious conditions

What can a brain MRI detect?

- Brain tumors, cysts, or abscesses
- Strokes and ischemic lesions
- Multiple sclerosis (MS) plaques
- Hydrocephalus or CSF flow problems
- Vascular malformations or aneurysms
- Infections, inflammation, or trauma
