MRI scans are exceptionally safe, but the strong magnetic field means they are not suitable for everyone.

You cannot have an MRI if you have:

  • A cardiac pacemaker or defibrillator
  • Certain cochlear implants
  • Specific types of aneurysm clips or metallic fragments in your eyes

Most MRI scans do not require contrast. If your scan needs a gadolinium-based dye to highlight specific tissues or blood vessels, this is an optional add-on for £200, applied only if clinically required and confirmed by our team.
