MRI scans are exceptionally safe, but the strong magnetic field means they are not suitable for everyone.

You cannot have an MRI if you have:

  • A cardiac pacemaker or defibrillator
  • Certain cochlear implants
  • Specific types of aneurysm clips or metallic fragments in your eyes

Note: If you are pregnant, particularly in your first trimester, or if you suffer from severe claustrophobia, please contact our clinical team before booking so we can accommodate your needs safely.

Unlike X-rays or CT scans, MRI uses no ionising radiation. This makes it a safe and highly effective method for examining soft tissues, organs, joints, and the nervous system with exceptional clarity.
