How long does a wrist ultrasound take?
The scan itself typically takes around 15-20 minutes. Your appointment may be slightly longer to allow for check-in and any necessary discussions.
Is an ultrasound scan painful?
No, ultrasound scans are painless. A warm gel is applied to your skin, and a small probe is moved over the area. You might feel slight pressure, but there is no discomfort.
When will I get my results?
Your images will be reviewed by a Consultant Radiologist, and a detailed report will be available for you via our secure online portal within 72 hours. You can then download or share this report, or discuss it with your GP.
How quickly can I get a scan?

Do I need a GP referral?
No — MyScanHub accepts self-referral for most scans. Our consultant radiologists review every case. Some scans (e.g. contrast studies) do need a referring clinician; we'll let you know at booking.
