About this scan

What is a MRI Forearm Right?

MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) uses powerful magnets and radiofrequency waves — with no ionising radiation — to create high-resolution cross-sectional images.

A MRI Forearm Right allows your radiologist to examine:

  • Muscles of the forearm (e.g., biceps, triceps, forearm flexors and extensors)
  • Tendons and their sheaths
  • Bones (radius and ulna)
  • Nerves (e.g., median, ulnar, radial nerves)
  • Blood vessels (arteries and veins)
  • Ligaments and soft tissues

MRI offers unmatched soft-tissue contrast and is widely used in specialist care for diagnosing and following-up disease of the forearm right.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions

How long does a right forearm MRI take?

A single-part MRI scan of the right forearm typically takes between 30 to 45 minutes to complete.

Will I need contrast for my forearm MRI?

Contrast is not always needed but may be used if your referring clinician or our reporting radiologist feels it's clinically necessary to better visualise certain tissues or abnormalities. This would be an additional cost and requires clinical confirmation before booking.

Can I have an MRI if I have claustrophobia?

We understand that enclosed spaces can be challenging. Our MRI scanner is relatively spacious, and our radiographers are experienced in supporting anxious patients. Please discuss any concerns with us when you book.

What happens after my scan?

Your scan images will be reviewed by a UK-certified Consultant Radiologist. You'll receive your detailed report within 72 hours via a secure online portal, which you can access, download, and share with your GP or other healthcare professionals.

How quickly can I get a scan?

Most MRI, ultrasound, and X-ray scans at MyScanHub can be booked same-day or next-day. Walk-in slots are available for X-rays most weekdays.

Do I need a GP referral?

No — MyScanHub accepts self-referral for most scans. Our consultant radiologists review every case. Some scans (e.g. contrast studies) do need a referring clinician; we'll let you know at booking.

When will I get my report?

Written reports from a GMC-registered consultant radiologist are delivered within 72 hours of your scan, often sooner. You can access the report — and the imaging — through your patient account on portal.myscanhub.com.

Is my data kept private?

Yes. MyScanHub is CQC-registered and fully GDPR-compliant. Your imaging and report are encrypted in transit and at rest, and only shared with parties you explicitly authorise.
