On the day of your scan:
- Wear comfortable clothing; you may be asked to change into a gown.

- Eat and take your usual medications unless specifically advised otherwise by the clinic.
Please notify the team if:
- If you have a pacemaker, defibrillator, or any implanted electronic device.
- If you have certain types of aneurysm clips, cochlear implants, or metal fragments in your body (especially the eyes).
- If you are pregnant, particularly in the first trimester.

How long does an MRI hip scan take?
A typical MRI scan of both hips takes around 30–45 minutes. Your radiographer will guide you through the process.
Will I need contrast dye for my hip MRI?
Contrast dye is not always necessary. If your referring clinician believes it would provide important extra information, it can be added for an additional fee, but this needs to be confirmed before booking.
Can I get my results straight away?
Your scan images will be reviewed by a UK-certified Consultant Radiologist. You can typically expect your detailed report within 72 hours, available via your secure online patient portal.
Do I need a GP referral for a private hip MRI?
No, a GP referral is not required. You can self-refer directly to MyScanHub for your private hip MRI scan.
How quickly can I get a scan?

Do I need a GP referral?
