What is the Cholesterol & Diabetes Check blood test?

Our private Cholesterol & Diabetes Check blood test is a proactive way to understand key aspects of your health. You can book this test directly online without needing a GP referral, making it easy to take charge of your wellbeing.

This comprehensive check measures markers across three main areas: Full Blood Count for general health, Heart Health markers like cholesterol and hs-CRP to help assess cardiovascular risk, and Diabetes Health markers including HbA1c to reflect your longer-term blood sugar control. It’s important to remember that this test measures specific markers; a clinician will interpret these results to provide a clearer picture of your health.

Your small venous blood sample will be taken at our clinic in Dartford, Kent, and sent to a UKAS-accredited laboratory for processing. Your results will be reviewed by a clinician and made available in your secure MyScanHub patient portal within 2–5 working days. You can choose to share these results with your GP if you wish.

Cholesterol & Diabetes Check — frequently asked questions

Do I need to fast before the Cholesterol & Diabetes Check?

Yes — we recommend fasting for 8–10 hours beforehand (water is fine), as recent food and drink can affect cholesterol and glucose readings.

How quickly will I get my results?

Most results are ready within 2–5 working days and are uploaded to your secure MyScanHub portal once reviewed by a clinician.

How is the blood sample taken?

A trained phlebotomist takes a small venous blood sample from your arm at our Kent clinic. It's quick and carried out in a private, comfortable setting.

What happens if a result is outside the normal range?

Any result outside the usual reference range is clearly highlighted in your report. A blood test doesn't diagnose on its own, so we recommend discussing flagged results with a clinician — you can add a GP consultation to talk them through.

Do I need a GP referral to book?

No. You can book this blood test directly online — no GP referral is required. It's a one-off payment with no subscription.
