Your appointment

What to expect at your ultrasound scan

  1. 1Some scans need a full bladder or a few hours without food; the scan's own page and your confirmation email say which.
  2. 2Gel goes on the skin and a small handheld probe is moved over the area. There are no needles and no radiation.
  3. 3Most scans take 15–30 minutes, and you can drive and go back to work straight away.
  4. 4Your report follows within 72 hours (pregnancy scans are explained on the day). Male sonographers work at our clinic; a chaperone is available on request and will never be refused.
