What happens during a scalp ultrasound?
A warm, water-based gel will be applied to your scalp. The sonographer will then move a small handheld probe over the area to capture images. You may be asked to move into different positions.
How long does a scalp ultrasound take?
The scan itself typically takes around 15–30 minutes, depending on the area being examined and how many images are needed.
When will I get my results?
Your images will be reviewed by a UK-certified Consultant Radiologist. A detailed report will be available for you to access via your secure online portal within 3 working days. You can then share this with your GP or clinician.
How quickly can I get a scan?

Do I need a GP referral?
