About this scan

What is an Ultrasound Liver and Gallbladder?

Ultrasound uses high-frequency sound waves — no radiation and no injections — to produce real-time images of soft tissues and organs.

An Ultrasound Liver and Gallbladder allows your radiologist to examine:

  • The size, shape, and texture of your liver.
  • The gallbladder and its walls.
  • The bile ducts for any dilation.
  • The main blood vessels supplying the liver.
  • Surrounding structures in the upper abdomen.

Ultrasound is safe, painless, and radiation-free — making it a first-line investigation for many conditions of the liver and gallbladder.
