- Please wear comfortable clothing without metal fastenings. You may need to change into a gown.

- Eat and take your usual medications as normal, unless specifically advised otherwise by our team.
- Bring any previous scan images or reports if you have them.
Please notify the team if:
- You have a pacemaker or implantable defibrillator.
- You have certain types of cochlear implants or metal clips.
- You have any metal fragments in your eyes or body.
- You are pregnant, especially in the first trimester.

How long does an MRI abdomen scan take?
A typical MRI scan of the abdomen lasts between 30 and 45 minutes. Your appointment may be slightly longer to allow for preparation and questions.
Can I have an MRI scan if I have claustrophobia?
We understand that enclosed spaces can be difficult. Our MRI scanner is wider than standard models, and our radiographers are experienced in supporting anxious patients. Please discuss any concerns with us when booking.
Do I need a referral from my GP for an MRI abdomen?
No, you do not need a GP referral to book a private MRI scan at MyScanHub. You can self-refer directly through our website or by calling us.
What happens after my MRI scan?
Your scan images will be reviewed by a UK-certified Consultant Radiologist. You will receive your detailed report within 3 working days via your secure online patient portal. You can then share this with your GP or another clinician.
Do I need a GP referral?
No — MyScanHub accepts self-referral for most scans. Our consultant radiologists review every case. Some scans (e.g. contrast studies) do need a referring clinician; we'll let you know at booking.
When will I get my report?
Written reports from a GMC-registered consultant radiologist are delivered within 3 working days of your scan, often sooner. You can access the report — and the imaging — through your patient account at myscanhub.com.
Where is the clinic?
Our imaging centre is at Bluewater Shopping Centre, Dartford, Kent (DA9 9ST), in the Guildhall Outer Car Park — free parking, a few minutes from junction 2 of the M25 and the A2. We're open Monday to Saturday 8am–9pm and Sunday 10am–5pm. Full directions are sent with your booking confirmation.
