Preparing for your MRI Adrenals Scan
On the day of your scan:

- Eat and take your usual medications unless specifically advised otherwise by your referring clinician or our team.
- Bring any previous scan reports or relevant medical information with you.
Please notify the team if:
- You have a pacemaker, implantable defibrillator, or other implanted electronic device.
- You have certain types of aneurysm clips, cochlear implants, or metal fragments (especially in the eyes).
- You are pregnant, especially in the first trimester.
- You experience severe claustrophobia; we offer support for anxious patients.

How long does an MRI adrenal scan take?
A typical MRI scan of the adrenal glands takes between 30 and 45 minutes to complete, depending on the specific sequences required.
Will I need contrast dye for my adrenal MRI?
Contrast dye is not always necessary for adrenal MRI scans. If it is clinically required for a more detailed assessment, it can be administered intravenously. This is an optional add-on and requires clinical confirmation before booking.
Can I eat and drink before my adrenal MRI?
Generally, you can eat and drink as normal before your adrenal MRI unless you are specifically instructed otherwise by your doctor or our team. Please follow any specific pre-scan instructions you receive.
When will I get my results?
Your MRI scan will be reported by a UK-certified Consultant Radiologist. You can expect to receive your comprehensive report via your secure online patient portal within 3 working days of your appointment.
Do I need a GP referral?
No — MyScanHub accepts self-referral for most scans. Our consultant radiologists review every case. Some scans (e.g. contrast studies) do need a referring clinician; we'll let you know at booking.
When will I get my report?
Written reports from a GMC-registered consultant radiologist are delivered within 3 working days of your scan, often sooner. You can access the report — and the imaging — through your patient account at myscanhub.com.
Where is the clinic?
Our imaging centre is at Bluewater Shopping Centre, Dartford, Kent (DA9 9ST), in the Guildhall Outer Car Park — free parking, a few minutes from junction 2 of the M25 and the A2. We're open Monday to Saturday 8am–9pm and Sunday 10am–5pm. Full directions are sent with your booking confirmation.
